Animated WebP typically produces a noticeably smaller file than a GIF at similar visual quality, since it uses real video-style compression instead of GIF's older, more limited color palette approach. The tradeoff is that GIF support is universal, while a few older apps and platforms still don't display WebP correctly.
Animated files of a full-length clip get large fast — a 10-second cap keeps the output a reasonable size to actually share. For anything longer, trim the source video first with the Trim Video tool, then convert the shorter clip.
