It's real in the sense that matters most: the original text is genuinely destroyed, not covered up. No browser-based tool can rewrite a PDF's internal font/glyph data directly (that requires reconstructing exact font metrics no library can safely reproduce), so instead, any page you edit gets re-rendered as a flattened image with the old text erased and your new text burned directly into the pixels — the same proven technique our Redact tool uses. The new text uses a standard font rather than necessarily matching your document's original font exactly.
